New Sonic Frontiers sales are 7 times higher than those of the previous Sonic Origins in the first month of release on Steam
On November 7, 2022, Sonic Team released its new platform game called Sonic Frontiers on Steam. SEGA took over the publishing duties.
Sonic games have always been a success among both players and moviegoers, as the second movie of this franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog, was recently released.
In Sonic Frontiers, inspired by previous Sonic games, players will have to explore an open world while completing various tasks. They will also have to fight robotic enemies and eventually gain access to the Cyberspace levels.
According to GameSensor's estimations, Sonic Frontiers sales amounted to almost $15 million in the first month of release date on Steam. The number of Sonic Frontiers copies sold on the platform during the same period reached about 300 thousand.
Players received the game very warmly, leaving mostly positive reviews and 8.2 points out of 10 on Metacritic. Critics on the same site rated the game at 71 points out of 100. The Sonic Frontiers rating on Steam is almost 5 stars out of 5.
If you look at GameSensor statistics, Sonic Frontiers' revenue accounts for more than 50% of the total sales of all Sonic Team games on Steam.
The previous game from the Sonic series by Sonic Team on the platform was Sonic Origins. However, Sonic Frontiers sales in the first month of release are almost 7 times higher than the revenue of Sonic Origins for the same period. And the number of copies sold is 6 times higher than that of Sonic Origins during the same period.
It is worth noting that about 80% of Sonic Frontiers' audience on Steam is made up of English-speaking players. However, the game supports French, Spanish, Chinese, and other languages.
