BONEWORKS sequel — BONELAB — outsold its predecessor in the first month of release on Steam

The sequel to the BONEWORKS virtual reality game, BONELAB, was released on Steam on September 29, 2022. The game takes place in an experimental laboratory, which contains several mini-games, game modes, and activities for research.

BONELAB is developed and published by Stress Level Zero studio, which created it based on the Unity engine and the internal 1Marrow Interaction Engine. The game is available on PC and supports SteamVR, Meta Quest 2, and Oculus Desktop VR.

During the first month of the game's release on Steam, according to GameSensor's estimations, BONELAB's revenue amounted to almost $10 million. As for the number of BONELAB copies sold, during the same time, the sale reached about 200 thousand copies of the game.

The rating of the novelty on the Steam platform is quite high and is 4 stars out of 5. On the aggregator website Metacritic, the game received mixed reviews: critics gave BONELAB 65 points out of 100, and players — 6.7 points out of 10 possible. However, this rating is still being determined, as a rather small number of players managed to evaluate the novelty.

If we compare the first part of BONEWORKS with its sequel, then for the first month of a release date on Steam, BONELAB sales are almost twice as high as BONEWORKS revenue for the same time. However, the number of copies sold during this time on the platform for both games is the same and is about 200 thousand.

It is worth noting that BONELAB on Steam supports only English, and therefore more than 90% of players are English-speaking.
