Almost $14 million in Need for Speed™ Unbound sales in the first month of release on Steam

The new 25th game in the Need for Speed series, Need for Speed™ Unbound by Criterion Games, was released on Steam on December 1, 2022. Electronic Arts took over as publisher.
Need for Speed™ Unbound, an arcade street racing computer game, was introduced on October 6, 2022 and released less than 2 months later on PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
During the first month of release on Steam, according to GameSensor's estimations, Need for Speed™ Unbound sales amounted to about $14 million. If we look at the number of Need for Speed™ Unbound copies sold, almost 200 thousand users purchased the new product on the platform during the same period.
Steam players gave the game a mediocre rating, giving it 3 stars out of 5. On the aggregator website Metacritic, Need for Speed™ Unbound received mixed reviews and 5.3 out of 10 points from players. According to them, the game has a very "cartoonish" theme, monotonous soundtracks and poor driving. Critics on the same website gave the game 73 points out of 100.
The previous game in the Need for Speed series from Criterion Games on Steam was Need for Speed™ Most Wanted. Compared to the new title, the Need for Speed™ Unbound revenue in the first month of its release date on Steam is almost three times higher than that of Need for Speed™ Most Wanted in the 2 years since its release on the platform.
Almost 60% of players who purchased Need for Speed™ Unbound on Steam speak English. Approximately 10% of users speak Chinese and German. The game also supports Polish, Spanish, French and other languages.
