Almost $1 million in Against the Storm sales in the first month of early access on Steam
Against the Storm, a city-building simulator with strategy elements from Eremite Games, was released on Steam on November 1, 2022. Hooded Horse took over the publishing duties.
Following a terrible storm that destroyed the world, players will have to recreate the wildlife of a fantasy world, find lost riches, and rebuild civilization despite the apocalyptic rains. In Against the Storm, players need to rebuild not just one town, but a whole network of settlements. The main goal of the game is to hold out as long as possible to get the necessary valuable resources to rebuild cities.
According to GameSensor's estimations, in the first month of the game's early access on Steam, Against the Storm sales amounted to about $1 million in revenue. During the same time, the number of Against the Storm copies sold on the platform reached almost 100 thousand.
Steam players have positively evaluated the novelty: its rating on the platform is almost 5 stars out of 5. However, due to early access, there are no reviews of the game on the aggregator website Metacritic.
For Eremite Games, Against the Storm is the first project on Steam, but for the publisher Hooded Horse, it is the 5th game on the platform. If we compare the financial results for the first month of the release date of the new title and the publisher's previous game, Terra Invicta, which was also released during the early access phase on Steam, the Against the Storm revenue is the same as that of Terra Invicta. However, the number of Against the Storm copies sold is almost twice as high as that of Terra Invicta.
Among the players who purchased Against the Storm in early access on Steam, more than 60% speak English. 15% of the audience speaks Chinese and about 7% speak Korean. The game also supports German, Japanese, and other languages.
As the new product was released at the early access stage on Steam, it is currently available only on PC.
